What is "Rivers of Astrum: Daughter of Darkness"?

"Rivers of Astrum" is a lesbian-centric game!

Straight sex still occurs throughout the game, just as frequently as lesbian sex, but the main character is a lesbian woman, that begins the game in a relationship, and that needs to be stated up front. Whether or not she stays in that relationship is up to the player. 

Dark Fantasy

"Rivers of Astrum" is a Dark Fantasy NSFW Adult Visual Novel Series, with a focus on deep story telling, and complex believable characters. The Dark Fantasy genre includes an element of horror. That element is fairly mild within the story so far.

Passion Project

"Daughter of Darkness" is the first volume in a story I've had in my head for 3 decades. I've written, re-written, and revised the story countless times over the last 30 years, almost as though it were a living thing.

Rivers of Astrum: Daughter of Darkness focuses on Player Choice / Customization 

I've gone out of my way to develop the game with player preference in mind. ALL content can be toggled on/off as desired. This could essentially turn the game into only a heterosexual game, or only a lesbian game, or any mix therein. With nearly 40 different content toggles, you can tailor the experience to suit your tastes/kinks! :)

Rivers of Astrum is not something quick and meaningless to fap to. 

I have nothing against those games, but this simply isn't one of them. If that's what you're looking for, hey, no judgement. But you won't find it here. The story is long and complex. The characters as well. Richness of story is the focus. 

Rivers of Astrum is not a Harem game. 

While you have the option to talk/work your way into relationships with any of the girls (or multiples, even), it is not treated as a Harem game, or a "girl collector."

OVERVIEW

A young woman, orphaned while very young on the streets of a city that did not want her. Plagued by recent dark visions, and no longer feeling safe where she is, she embarks on a journey to acquire the means of leaving the only place she's known as home.

This journey sees her caught up in a sweeping tide of destiny that no one could have predicted, and leaves her forever changed. Whether that change is for the better or for the worse is yet to be seen.

M E E T   T H E   CAST

Kim Ashmoore is an orphan, dumped on the streets of Cliffperch as a child. A port town, and pirate den, the city of Cliffperch is lawless, and run by a group of self-styled "Pirate Lords". Growing up in this environment meant that Kim had to learn the arts of thieving, burglary and pickpocketing to survive. She has been rather successful at all three, but recently a change in the air has come. Kim senses that she is no longer safe in Cliffperch, and sets out to secure the means to build a life somewhere else.

Cara has no memory of how she arrived in the town of Cliffperch. She has simply always been there, as far back as her memory goes. The people of Cliffperch are largely distrusting of outsiders, and - being a Half-Elf - Cara is doubly shunned by most. Kim's long friend and lover, they are partners in crime. Cara is the voice of reason to Kim's rash thoughts, and reckless actions. Her partially elven blood grants her access to magic, and she has used it plentifully over the years in order to save Kim and herself from various spots of trouble.

Sandra Gale is the Captain of the "Red Tide". A pirate since she was a young girl, Sandra is generally a lively ball of witty retorts and conversation. She takes very little seriously, but underneath it all there is a buried all-consuming rage that will soon boil its way to the surface.   

Vex is a full blooded Elf and survivor of the Great Exodus. A long studied scholar and theologian, Vex spends her life in pursuit of knowledge of any and all things. Recently, she uncovered a deeply disturbing ancient secret, and is now making moves to investigate it.
