Progress on v 0.2.1

Hey everyone, just wanted to stop in with a progress update on v 0.2.1.  As I've stated, this update is going to be a Quality of Life update, focusing largely on finalizing the UI, and bringing all animations to 60 FPS. The full list of items I'm tackling on this update is as follows, for anyone interested:

  • Relationship Messaging Positions: The messages that appear during relationship changes. Such as "Cara liked that." or "Kim hated that." Will be adjusted so that they do not hang off-screen, and are entirely readable.
  • Supporter Code Input: In this version, the code inputs will be added in for supporters to enter their code, and have access to supporter-only content.
  • Animations: The "bread and butter" of this update, also the most time consuming part.  Bringing all animations to 60 FPS. I began this part first. There are a total of 19 animations (with 2 being new additions) to render. As of the time of this post, I've completed 9 of them, and I am working on number 10.
  • Voicework for Amaya: I've had a particularly tough time finding someone to voice Amaya, but - as of this moment - I've found an actress for her, and her lines are in the process of being voiced as we speak.
  • Gallery Screens: There will be a semi-overhaul of the gallery screens. Most importantly will be Vex transitioning from a "Side" character, to a "Main" character. The gallery images themselves are getting slowly rolled out as the game progresses, so they will not all be available as of this update, but the *interface* will be finalized.
  • Character Sheets: Redesigning those from the ground up. They are all complete as of now, and I'm quite proud of them :)
  • Render-Adds: There are several scenes where i personally feel like the conversation was drawn out for far too long on a single shot. I will be filling those in with a few more renders to add more life to those scenes.
  • Render-Fixes: Certain scenes have a few graphical issues. If you haven't spotted them, then I won't draw your attention to them XD, but I intend to fix those for this update.
  • Camp UI: The interface when the party makes camp was a barebones starter version. Just to get the functionality laid out. I intend to overhaul that for this and all future nights where the party makes camp.
  • Card Game: The card game I want for Rivers of Astrum is a TCG that will span the length of the game. NPCs will be able to be battled for cards, etc. It was actually *supposed* to make it into the last update, but there has been a severe lack of communication from the guy that was helping me code that, and so I've taken up coding it on my own, and will have it placed in the game for version 0.2.1. It may be subject to changes / refining moving forward.
  • Wait-Timing (Dialogue): So, the way I structure the dialogue is to time it with the voice lines. So, in the instances where a single line of dialogue has a wait timer on it for dramatic effect, i set the timing on those to line up with the voice line, so that it can play straight through without interrupting auto mode, for those who use that (such as myself).
  • "Storytime Renders": There are certain instances where characters are sharing lore of the world in the form of a story of Astrum's past, or a character's past. I intend to fill those with "flashback" renders for better visualization.
  • Quick Menu: The quick menu will be adjusted to its final version. This has already been completed as of now.
  • Main Menu: The main menu will be adjusted to its final version.
  • Tier 3 / Tier 4 Supporter-Only Galleries: This will be placed into the game for this version ... as these galleries will often contain non-canon imagery, or things entirely separate from the story, they will be fully populated for this update, as they are not dependent on story events.

The animations are the longest part of this process, and im already over halfway done with them. So I'm hoping it shouldn't be too terribly long before I can get this out. Moving forward, all animations will be rendered at 60FPS the first time, so that I do not have to keep stopping to go back and upgrade them.
